James S. Berg, Esq.

James S. Berg is a native of Seattle, Washington and focuses his practice in litigation. For over 23 years, that emphasis has focused on defending civil litigants. Jim has tried civil cases in Yakima, Benton, Franklin, Klickitat, Chelan, Clallam, and Island County Superior Courts and has argued before the Washington State Court of Appeals. Jim has also tried cases in the United States District Courts for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington and has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. Jim's experience encompasses personal injury and death cases, as well as agricultural, business, and business litigation.

Educated at University of Washington, Jim received his law degree in 1977 from Willamette University College of Law.

Jim has been a member of the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers from 1985 - present and was on the Board of Trustees from 1997 - 2004; he also served as its president from 2002 - 2003. Jim has been a member of the Defense Research Institute from 1982 - present and served as a speaker at the 2000 DRI National Convention. He received an Exceptional Performance Citation in 2002 - 2003. Jim has been an associate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) from 2003 - present. He has received the Washington Law & Politics - Super Lawyer award for 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. Jim was also a contributing author to the Washington Legal Ethics Deskbook in 2003.
